Lance Haidet Wins RenoCross!

It was a night to remember as Lance Haidet powered away on the last lap from a stacked field to take home one of the biggest wins of his career.

Interbike, the bike industry trade show, used to take place in Las Vegas, Nevada and for many years hosted a nighttime cyclocross race called Cross Vegas. This year Interbike relocated to Reno and so did the iconic race, now called RenoCross. The event took place at San Rafael Park, which hosted the most recent U.S. Cyclocross Nationals.

“It’s incredible,” said Haidet. “I knew I had good form coming here, but you never know what can happen. I felt really good and my confidence grew with each lap. I am so stoked to win this race!”

Lance was a bit worried about how the race would go because he did not feel that good during his warm up. “During my pre-ride earlier this evening I felt awful. It just goes to show; you never know how you’re going to feel until the gun goes off. I stayed positive, stuck to my plan and it all worked out,” stated Lance.

This was the first C1 UCI win for Lance and he earned valuable points that will improve his international ranking and start position for upcoming races. This also marks the first win for the new Donnelly C/C cyclocross bike. “To win here in Reno on a bike we recently released is amazing,” said Donnelly founder Donn Kellogg. “From our product developers to sponsors, there are so many people who helped us get to this very point tonight. I’m overwhelmed with gratitude.”

Lance took the win using Donnelly’s LAS file-tread tubular tires at 24 psi in the front and 25 psi in the rear. “LAS is the airport code for Las Vegas and we named the tire as kind of a thank you to the amazing people who created Cross Vegas,” said Donn. When asked if the LAS would be renamed the RNO, Reno’s airport code, Donn replied, “Well, we are still in Nevada so I think we will keep the LAS as is for now!”

After a few days of rest and recovery, Lance and team mechanic James Sullivan will set up shop in Waterloo, Wisconsin for the first UCI World Cup of the season.
