Best of 2021 road season!

The 2021 road racing season is over, and it’s time to celebrate the best moments we have shared with our sponsored teams. We have seen some spectacular performances over the past months with Grand Tours wins, the Monuments and even two World Championship titles! It has been a fantastic journey around the world together with the greatest champions who, like every year, choose the best components to reach the best performance.

1 – DAMIANO CARUSO LIVES 'A RACE LIKE A CHAMPION' AT THE GIRO D'ITALIA

The Giro d’Italia, back this year in May, presented many proud moments for Vision as we followed the ascent of Team Bahrain-Victorious Italian climber Damiano Caruso to second place on the final podium. Riding with Metron SL Disc tubeless-ready wheels, Caruso had to make a quick transition from wingman to leader after their elected leader crashed out. He made the last mountain stage an epic one as he reacted along with his teammate Pello Bilbao to triumph on the top of Alpe Motta.

2- NEILSON POWLESS’ SPRINT TO VICTORY AT CLÁSICA SAN SEBASTIÁN

Neilson Powless outsprinted Matej Mohoric to win Clásica San Sebastián after a “Vision” duel at the end of a long day in the rain. The American climber of EF Education-Nippo rode with Metron 5D Integrated handlebar and Metron SL Disc wheels; a fundamental weapon that helped him to reach the maximum performance during the Basque Classic.

3- METRON TFE PRO: THE EXTENSIONS OF ROGLIC’S GREAT VICTORIES

Our Metron TFE Pro extensions have been one of the decisive components in the search for maximum speed “against the clock” for Primoz Roglic; Olympic gold medallist in Tokyo and winner of the initial and final TT stages of La Vuelta. Roglic was the first rider to ride with Metron TFE Pro extensions during the 2020 racing season, and while equipped, the Slovenian leader of Team Jumbo-Visma has been able to gain an advantage in terms of weight and aerodynamics.

4- ELISA BALSAMO STORMS TO WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP GLORY

Riding for Italian team Valcar–Travel & Service, Elisa Balsamo stormed to Women’s Elite World Championship glory in Leuven, beating out Marianne Vos in a reduced bunch sprint after. From a tech perspective, Elisa rode with our Metron 40 SL Disc tubular wheels. It was a stellar choice as a tactical wheel that’s already victorious on the cyclocross course, the cobbles of the spring classics and the torturous mountain stages in the Pro peloton.

5- SONNY COLBRELLI WINS PARIS-ROUBAIX ON METRON 60 SL DISC WHEELS

After his stunning Italian and European road championships wins, Sonny Colbrelli (Team Bahrain-Victorious) triumphed on the legendary cobblestones of Roubaix with his Metron 60 SL Disc tubeless ready wheels; an aerodynamic weapon capable of taming even the toughest trails. Thanks to their wider internal channel, Metron 60 SL Disc clincher/TLR (tubeless-ready) wheels allow a wider tubeless tyre up to 32mm. On Colbrelli’s Roubaix-winning bike he used these clincher/TLR wheels, which have an internal width of 21mm, that allowed him to use a wider tyre and avoid punctures on the cobblestones.
A special note: Sonny Colbrelli has been the first pro rider to ride with our Metron 60 SL Disc wheelset, during the Italian Road National Championships in June and the first one ever to utilize the potential of this brand new wheelset!

  • Primoz Roglic triumphs at Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
  • Elisa Balsamo, the new Women's Elite World Champion.
  • Damiano Caruso took the 2nd place at Giro d'Italia.
