FSA POLAROID: best of 2019

The 2019 race season has ended and it’s time to look back at our Best of 2019. We have chosen 6 fantastic moments, 6 stories, each one with an unforgettable picture. Images presented like they were shot with a polaroid camera.

KNOCKIN’ ON HEAVENS DOOR: ALBERTO BETTIOL RVV’S WIN
Alberto Bettiol, of EF Education First, dominated the terrible Tour of Flanders cobblestones with Full Speed Ahead products! The Italian rider took his first pro win at Tour of Flanders, twelve years after the last Italian winner of Alessandro Ballan. The EF Education First rider won with an incredible solo effort in one of the most popular and prestigious races in the world; also considered the “University” of cycling races.

THE PERFECT SPRING OF FUGLSANG
With a strong lead-out of almost the entire Astana Pro Team, Jakob Fuglsang attacked on the final climb of the day for his first Monument victory. This was the third win by an Astana Pro Team rider in La Doyenne. The perfect final of a perfect spring.

NIBALI VS ROGLIC: THE GIRO CHALLENGE
Former Italian champion Vincenzo Nibali, leader of Bahrain-Merida, took another podium place at the Giro d’Italia which was the 6th in his career, and as always, with FSA components. The ‘Shark’ confirmed his second place overall, after a strong performance in the closing time trial and was greatly challenged by Primoz Roglic, leader of our partnered team Jumbo-Visma. As an added bonus for us, as well as Team Jumbo-Visma, Roglic finished 3rd place overall securing a podium spot and only a start to what would be an incredible year for the Slovenian.

UNIQUE TOUR DE FRANCE FOR TEAM JUMBO-VISMA
Steven Kruijswijk is the ninth Dutchman in history to finish on the overall podium in Paris securing 3rd place overall in this year’s edition of the Tour de France. After many top five placings, it was the first podium in a grand tour for the Team Jumbo-Visma rider. Overall, it was a great 2019 Tour for Team Jumbo-Visma having been able to also win 4 stages: through Mike Teunissen on the opening stage, then the TTT the following day, and also through lead sprinter Dylan Groenewegen as well as the ever-improving Wout Van Aert.

K-FORCE WE MAKES ITS OWN HISTORY AT LA VUELTA
Full Speed Ahead, the fourth electronic road groupset producer in the world, debuted the electronic-wireless K-Force WE groupset in its first three-week Grand Tour. As a result, the occasion was marked with an historical triumph! The Spaniard rider of BH-Burgos team, Angel Madrazo Ruiz (also leader of KOM overall), claimed a spectacular stage 5 win at the Javalambre Astrophysical Observatory after his third long-range attack of La Vuelta.

LA VUELTA: WHERE PRIMOZ ROGLIC WON IT ALL
Primoz Roglic’s overall win at La Vuelta represented something unique. Roglic is the first Slovenian to win a Grand Tour, and after 4 years with FSA & Vision, he has returned to win the most prestigious Spanish race of the season. Previous FSA & Vision overall winners of the Vuelta include Fabio Aru, Alberto Contador and Vincenzo Nibali. Roglic was able to inscribe his name into history along with the best of them.
