Tahnée Seagrave 3rd @ 2017 UCI WC

The following is a race summary written by the Transition Racing / FMD Race Team. FSA are the officla Headset sponsor of the team:

"What a weekend… would it be third time lucky for us? Our team motorhome has NEVER made it into the pits on the last two occasions – we arrived with a fuel leak, but Transition Bikes/FMD Factory Racing was at the 2017 UCI World Cup, Round 01, Lourdes, France! The whole team had taken a battering over the last 2 weeks but everyone needed to put that aside and concentrate on the job in hand #noexcusses. The junior top ten riders get extra ‘timed training’ but with Kaos (11) and Joe (12), they just missed out. Those extra hours were no help for Tahnée as she was way down the field with a lot of work to do."

QUALIFYING
"Kaos Seagrave was first up in qualifying on Saturday and had a great run, something that we know he has been capable of since this exciting youngster started racing. Kaos sat in 2nd pushing Finn Iles (CAN) into 3rd. Joe Parfitt came down with a sketchy run and sat in 17th position – both juniors into the finals on Sunday. Tahnée Seagrave knew she had to do some work from the previous days timed training and she did, starting the year by qualifying first with a run that gathered momentum after being almost 4 seconds back at the first split."

RACE DAY
"The juniors were again up first and this year, they race before the elite men go out for training – so a busy morning! Joe Parfitt was looking to improve on his 17th place and Kaos Seagrave was looking to stay on that elusive and tough Junior World Cup podium. Joe came down first and was able to take 4 seconds off his qualifying time and move into 11th position. Finn Iles had a storming run and Kaos was not able to break the 3 minute barrier so sat in 2nd with only Matt Walker (UK) to go. Matt flatted before the first split so Kaos finished 2nd in the first World Cup of 2017 and FMD’s best junior men’s World Cup finish since Mike Jones’ 1st in Hafjell 2015. GREAT WORK"

"Tahnée was next up – the elite women trained in the morning then had a huge break whilst the juniors raced and the elite men trained. The plan was to try and take as much time back as she could in the first split and, although Tahnée’s had the most fastest sectors of the weekend, it is the number on the clock at the finish line that matters and she ended up 3rd on the day behind Rachel Atherton (UK) 1st and Tracey Hannah (AUS) 2nd."

"PACK DOWN… well the weather put paid to that with destroyed tents and a motorhome that needed fixing – but we are home with fresh and bizarre adventure stories! It was a great weekend for the squad and much fuel for the fire at the next round in Fort William. Thanks again our amazing mechanics Matt & Jake, Jennie for all the help and coach Chris. Also to Dan Griffiths for the amazing pictures… and of course our truly valued sponsors – THANK YOU."
