Martinez Places 3rd at AMGEN Tour of California

EF-Drapac p/b Cannondale rider Daniel Martinez took the final podium spot in the 2018 AMGEN Tour of California. The Colombian climber finished in the top 5 on stage 2 from Ventura to the top of the Gibraltar climb to keep in the hunt for a high placing throughout the remainder of the race, setting him up for a showdown on the Queen stage from Folsom to South Lake Tahoe. Stage 6 seemed tailor made for diminutive climber, with the penultimate 12km climb gaining 3500 feet in elevation gain! Although he finished 1:50 down on fellow countryman and overall leader Egan Bernal of Team Sky, Daniel kept the podium in sight by finishing in the T-10 on the stage. This gave Martinez an advantage over Adam Yates of Mitchelton-Scott by a mere 2 seconds going into the final stage into Sacramento where Daniel was able to maintain his 3rd place.

EF-Drapac p/b Cannondale ride Vision cockpits and carbon wheels, giving the team weapons of speed tailored made for each stage. From the low profile Metron 40 SL wheels for the climbing stages, Metron 55 SL and 81 SL used on the flatter and faster stages, to the Metron 3 Spoke and rear carbon Disc used during the Morgan Hill time trial on Stage 4. Bar and stem choices were just as varied with the 5D Integrated System being seen on both the flat sprint friendly stages to mountain top finishes on Gibraltar and at Heavenly Valley, although some riders did choose the traditional combination of the Metron 4D compact bar and Metron Carbon stem.
