FSA: TRENTIN LEADS THE FSA WORLD CHAMPS CHARGE

A superb season for FSA-Vision riders is coming to a close and as usual we’ve seen some hard fought performances from our sponsored athletes at the annual World Championships. In this year’s Worlds at Bergen, Norway, it was a Slovenian rider leading our celebrations.

Primož Roglič, the former skier who’s making quite a name for himself in professional cycling thanks in part to using cutting-edge gear – with aerobars, wheels and more from Vision and FSA – recorded arguably the biggest result of his career to date with individual time-trial silver at the UCI road world championships that reached their conclusion on Sunday. The 27-year-old, with Giro d’Italia and Tour de France stage victories to his name already, finished 57 seconds behind winner Tom Dumoulin over the 31km course.

‘From the beginning of the season, the world time-trial championships was a goal for me,’ Roglic said after the race. ‘I knew the race would suit me and it’s great to be on the podium in such a strong field.’

On a course characterised by many of the field, including Roglič himself, swapping their TT bike for their road bike before the final climb, Roglič actually held the lead with only five riders left out on the Norwegian course. But Dumoulin showed the form that won him the Giro. Roglič also helped his Vision-FSA-using NL Lotto-Jumbo team finish seventh in the team time trial earlier in the first weekend of the championships.

There were also notable performances from Vision and FSA riders in the men’s 267.5km road race that took place on Sunday with the Italian Matteo Trentin taking a fine fourth place, overcoming his disappointment at missing a medal and declaring: ‘We showed we're a team with a capital T again, we’ve matured and grown in recent years and we raced well. We showed we'll soon be back up at the very top.’

It was also great to see a fighting performance form Kazakhstan’s Alexey Lutsenko breaking the top-10 with a ninth-place finish. Thanks to all FSA-Vision’s riders for their superb efforts.
