Tel Aviv Velodrome and Giro d’Italia: story of an important partnership between Vision and Israel Cycling Academy

Over the last few days, Israel has presented the first Olympic velodrome of the Middle East, located in the city of Tel Aviv.

The construction has been strongly desired by the Canadian billionaire Sylvan Adams, who also played an integral role for the Giro’s “Grande Partenza” in Israel, which was the largest sporting event the country has ever hosted.

The 58-year-old real-estate tycoon is also the co-owner of the Israel Cycling Academy racing team, one of the Pro Continental Teams sponsored by Vision, that is taking part in the 2018 Giro d’Italia.

The professional riders of Israel Cycling Academy did the first test runs on the track as Tel Aviv Mayor Ron Huldai spectated along with Yoni Yarom, chairman of the Israel Cycling Federation, and Sylvan Adams.

Meantime the 101st Giro d’Italia is getting underway. This historical edition has represented the official debut of 2 new VISION wheelsets, Metron 30 SL Tub and Trispokes, provided for EF-Drapac p/b Cannondale and Israel Cycling Academy. Trispokes in particular did their debut during the first time-trial in Jerusalem, used by Israel Cycling Academy riders.

For the first time in its 101-year history, the Giro d’Italia will begin outside of Europe, in Israel, marking a great success of public. And the home team has been immediately protagonist in Israeli stages, with at least one rider in the breakaway each day.
