THE BENEFITS OF TUBELESS READY WHEELS

Riding with tubeless-ready wheels is a trend that originated from mountain biking. In addition to better rolling resistance, one of the main advantages of running tubeless tires and wheels is that you can continue riding even if you get small punctures in your tire.

DISCOVERING A TUBELESS READY WHEEL

Tubeless-ready construction allows a special tubeless tire to be mounted to your wheel without an inner tube. Liquid latex sealant is then added inside the tire to seal air leaks in the event of a puncture, which allows you to continue riding without the hassle of changing a tube.
The tubeless-ready wheel has a different profile than clincher rims. First, in an aluminium rim, it is a welded as opposed to pinned. In a carbon rim, the continuous carbon fiber construction lends itself to creating a smooth tire bed. Finally, just to the side of the sealed internal channel run two lips or ridges which have the purpose of maintaining the position of the tire on the rim to ensure that the seal remains even under low tire pressure.

THE BENEFITS OF TUBELESS TIRES AND WHEELS SYSTEM:

1)    Better pressure retention in case of puncture
By removing the inner tube from the system, the risk of a pinch flat is reduced to nearly “zero”. This means that even if you get a small puncture in your tire, you are highly unlikely to go completely flat before the liquid latex reseals the system so you can continue riding.
2)    Greater smoothness
The tubeless setup has a much smoother ride profile than a traditional clincher or a tubular tire, which has always been considered the gold standard in competition tires. This is due to the lack of friction between the tire and the inner tube, which from a mechanical point of view, is the aspect that most affects the rolling resistance of the tire.
3)    These wheels work at lower average tire pressures, allowing gains in both comfort and traction.
Riding on lower tire pressures will allow your tires to adapt to the contours and conditions of the road and provides you with a more comfortable and responsive ride. The reduced tire pressure also provides an increased and consistent contact patch between the tire and the road. With more surface area on the road, you get increased grip, hence more traction and continuous contact with the pavement.
