A CHAT WITH…TEAM TREK-SELLE SAN MARCO

Emotions are still riding high after the wonderful win of Fabian Rabensteiner and Michele Casagrande at the Grand Finale of the Absa Cape Epic, the most important MTB stage race in the world, riding with FULL SPEED AHEAD components.

We met up with Marco Trentin, Team Trek-Selle San Marco manager, for an interview about this prestigious win.

The team has come back to the win at Cape Epic after two years. Was it a predictable goal?

”This victory wasn’t predictable. The level of riders at Cape Epic gets higher year after year, so it was a great surprise. It was an unforgettable day for the team”.

Cape Epic is a very special event, in a particular atmosphere. Tell us about this wonderful experience.

“Cape Epic is something quite unique, with an impeccable organization and a media coverage that has no equal in the MTB world. It was a fantastic experience from start to finish”.

8 stages, more than 650 kilometers and 25 hours on the saddle. The maintenance of the components has been very important. How do organize the maintenance?

“In this kind of race maintenance is fundamental. There were two of our team staff to support 4 athletes, one for wheel maintenance and one for bike maintenance. Maintenance took place regularly at the end of each stage”.

What feedback can you give on FULL SPEED AHEAD products after this important challenge?

“FULL SPEED AHEAD has been synonymous with guarantee for years and along the 8 stages we only needed to perform routine maintenance. Apart from the substitution of the transmission in the middle of the race, as expected on the eve of the race, we had no breakdowns in 650 kilometers!”.
