Melanie was a devoted, loving and inspiring mother, wife, daughter and sister.

She grew up on the family farm in Leaf Mountain Township, where the Rotz and Hartman family have lived for more than 100 years. Melanie was a scholar, loved leadership and combined it with her zest for life and passion for building and being part of community.

She first attended 4-H camp when she was eight years old and this experience shaped her love of travel and professional career.

Melanie worked with High Impact Training as a consultant in organizational leadership and development; she was a popular presenter at college campuses, camps and organizations across the country facilitating retreats, team building and fraternity and sorority programs on the topics of change, achieving work-life balance and more.

Melanie and her familyMelanie was married to Tim Hartman and had two children, Reid and Autumn. Her children and family were the center of her world.

Melanie was a naturalist at heart and loved the beauty of the outdoors.

She was an avid crafter, enjoyed making cards, decorations and home wares, she was always working to crocheting afghan blankets which she gifted friends and family as wedding or new baby gifts.

She was passionate about running marathons, health and wellness and organic gardening.

She passed away on April 15, 2013 at Abbot Northwestern Hospital, Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA.
